smelly foreigner

The last few days have been all school.

Yesterday I had to speak wth my chemistry professor about some graded schein that i need by march 15th.  Well, he was really unhelpful and kind of a jerk.  He spurted off all this stuff first in german, then switched to english after i told him i was from america.  he said i needed to be in all these other classes then didn't tell me how.  then he said there was no way i could get the graded schein by then.  and without answering any of my questions he just told me to talk to my advisor.
....okay.

well, that didn't make me feel super, but at lunch i found out that we have 4 more weeks to figure out what classes we're going to be taking. so i'm not as stressed out as before.  and i guess you don't actually sign up for this class until the middle of the semester.
but after some serious sleuthing online i found something about a lab but you needed to take a test to get into it and the 'last' test was administered 2 weeks ago even before the semester started. but pretty much all these websites told me to talk to the chem secretary.

but later in the evening i had my first bio lab. i was incredibly anxious all day for it.  i'm not exactly what i was so afraid of, maybe the interaction?  there's just something intimidating about taking my first upper div bio lab in a different language.  well, i come and there are no lockers left and everyone's wearing lab coats.  i guess we're supposed to have those. well i made a pal off the bat and we shared a locker.  i told him i was an exchange student and he took pity and helped me out for the rest of the lab.
it started out with a looooong intro about safety and whatnot.  by the time she (the professor) got to to actual lab directions i was half asleep and not really comprehending anything.  but after borrowing a labcoat and buying my labbook i got to work.  this mostly consisted of me copying what everyone else was doing.
and during this process i broke two lenses, both definitely improperly and unsafely cleaned up by yours truly, and i almost started a small fire with the Bunsen burner.  i also didn't do the whole lab right and had to draw my sketch based on what my pal had told me how it, the culture, was supposed to look.  I was the last out of the room.  we were supposed to identify what bacteria it was and i chose the wrong bacteria twice, and then finally the lab assistant told me which one it was...and then i wrote the wrong one again.
she told me to just draw the right one later and signed off my lab manual.

whoool. talk about a full evening.

so this morning i woke up extra early to speak to the chem secretary.  here secretary is someone with a doctorate that is supposed to help you, but doesn't actually want to.
after me trying to explain my case for what seemed like an eternity, she told me to read the papers outside some room and return if i have to.
the papers said something along the lines of my major is on a break from the praktikum this semester?
i think?
uhh.
well, my professor said something along the lines of me not having to take the seminar, but i think i may go tomorrow anyways just to see exactly what i do have to do in this class so i can take a test and get a grade.

but this evening i had my first yoga-pilates class.
it was...good. kind of intense, as in the teacher would make fun of us, push us physically further. really, the class was a joke. we were all literally falling over, groaning, and flailing about like drunks.  we were constantly swaying 'like trees', growing 'like trees', always like trees! but it wasn't exactly the relaxing, medatative yoga i'm used to.
plus, farts were definitely ripped by people during this session.
it's going to be an interesting experience.
i had planned on attending a hip-hop course afterwards but my legs were like jelly.

so of course i got lost on the bike ride home. i took one of my 'safety cuts'. my version of a short cut when i don't feel like crossing the street or biking when the bike lane is with cars. this got me lost in some car dealership area after taking the back way out of the building.  after it started raining i tracked my way back to where i started and just went the RIGHT way home.

funny because yesterday i actually thought to myself, 'Boy! my sense of direction sure has improved!'
hahah, i was seriously mistaken.
