:) :) :)

ahh, today was so nice.
i went on a nice jog this morning and then went to the gym for a little bit.
then i ran off to class in north berlin.
it was such a beautiful train ride over there and i was early so i got to take my time and enjoy the scenery.
it was warm and sunny and a really beautiful area of berlin. not really residential, and there weren't any shops. an old factory area.
the  north berlin TU campus is in an old factory and it's beauuutiful, but actually kind of intimidating at the same time.  all the buildings are gigantic brick old factory buildings. really a sight to see. but i kept feeling like i was in nazi era, so that kind of freaked me out. something about old factories just reminds me of the nazis.

this was for my genetics course.  the lecturing was in english but all the important logistical details were in german. well turns out the class is only for 'diplom' students and you have to have a thing signed saying you're either a diplom student or pre-diplom student. and diplom, is masters. so i don't know if i can take this class which makes my chances of staying get even slimmer.  the actual class seems good, but the attatched EIGHT HOUR lab does not.
and speaking of extending, the deadline is in a week and my advisor STILL hasn't gotten back to me as to what the process is like.

after i came back to tiergarten i took a long walk to Ku'damm.
it was so beautiful outside and i explored a part of berlin that i had only really gotten to by train.
it kept reminding me of paris and everyone was dressed so beautifully.
all the old women in their big fur coats (this was gross), even though it wasn't all that cold.
i had the vague, general intention of going shopping but didn't really care. i just wanted to walk around really. i headed the wrong direction of H&M and all the other shops and just kind of explored.  However, it got cold kind of fast and i started to get really hungry so i walked to savigny platz and took the S bahn back to Tiergarten.

from here i took a nice slow bike ride to the grocery store and picked up a few things for dinner.
a dinner of microwaved beans, corn, tomatos and broccoli. i know, i have a decadent lifestyle.
but being outside in the sun so much just made me feel so happy.
and i feel so good that i got to take in some new beautiful places. even if they weren't the trendy, edgy places berlin is known for, they were special nonetheless.

tonight there is a Bierkeller party and an erasmus party.
Bierkeller is the Siegmunds Hof (my dorm) bar across from my house.  It was closed for the past two weeks for being to loud and this is the re-opening party.
and free sangria until 24!
and then i'm heading to the other party in senefelder platz.  it's free until 24 and is going to have all my other international friends there.
i've been getting to know the other TU international students way better and they're really quite nice. i'm glad that i get along with them just as well as i got along with the kids at the FU.

i still can't believe i haven't had any real homework yet!
i'm nervous of what's to come but i'm gonna live-it-up until then.

AND, i'm going to enjoy as much sun as i possibly can because both you and i know it's not going to be shining for too much longer.

heres the link to the rest of the pictures they're not so great. my hands were cold so i kept them in my pockets the most of the time, but i'll take more this weekend probably.

Becky,
Thanks for the pictures of the Ku Damm. Brings back fond memories. I used to go to Kreuzberg back in the day. It was kinda boho at the time. Just what I wanted.
